A extended voyage through Australia is being halted in the wake of the death of an elderly woman who was stranded by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a pause. The liner left without her and returned after some time after the ship staff discovered the passenger was not present.

A major hunt discovered her remains the next day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the event, alongside law enforcement and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the shipping company announced that guests and crew on the ship were informed that the rest of the journey had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and earlier engine troubles".

Via official communication, he added that travelers would be given a full refund, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also issued an latest announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" preventing any additional guests from getting on the vessel.

The official said that they would attend the ship in Cairns upon its return.
